How do I join Royal Dutch Virtual?
Begin a new application select Apply > New Pilot Application.
There is a brief 10 question entrance exam to ensure that your aviation knowledge meets our minimum requirements. Upon passing the entrance exam, your application will be processed and an email sent to you with your login credentials and information on getting started.
Is everything in English or also in Dutch?
Everything is in English.
Following in the footsteps of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which specifies English as the primary international language for aviation, our communications and organization operate in English.
Are there minimum membership requirements?
Pilots are required toÂ complete one flight report per month, abide by the rules and regulations of the airline, andÂ actively monitor their email address.
What I am unavailable for an extended period of time?
Pilots may submit a Leave of Absence which will effectively freeze the account for up to 6 months at a time. This is designed to allow pilots who have irregular schedules to continue participating.
Why is there an entrance exam?
Royal Dutch Virtual is equipped for, and designedÂ for existing flight simulation pilots looking for a more realistic environment.
The entrance exam is designed to ensure that pilots joining Royal Dutch Virtual have sufficient aviation knowledge to fully use and take advantage of Royal Dutch Virtual’s offerings.
What if I fail the exam, can I try again?
Yes. The entrance exam can be retried until passed.
What kind of personal information do I have to provide?
We only require your First and Last Name, Email Address and Date of Birth.
We rarely send emails once accepted (one survey every quarter) unless there is a problem with your account.
Your Date of Birth is required to ensure that we comply with the The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA) as we do not have any minimum age restrictions.
Do you have an age threshold? I am X years old, can I join?
We do not age discriminate. Provided you meet all minimum requirements and pass the entrance exam, you are welcome to fly with us.
We do collect yourÂ Date of Birth to ensure that we comply with the The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). If any additional action is required for your account, we will reach out.
What are the software/hardware requirements?
The majority of our systems are web-based to ensure cross device and platform compatibility. We do require you log flights with ACARSng which presently requires Windows Vista or higher (however there are ways to use it with a simulator running on Windows XP).
Can I transfer hours from an online network or other virtual airline?
We do allow hour transfers from either an online network or virtual airline.
Hour transfers can be submitted after completion of your third flight. Only one hour transfer is permitted per account.
I think I had an account in the past, can I retrieve that one?
Depends on the age of the account. If in doubt, please contact us prior to creating a new account to prevent any potential problems.
